Handmade Silver Rings for Beautiful Hands

12 Oct

Not every gold or handmade silver ring looks good on every finger. When choosing a ring, it is important to consider the size and shape of your fingers and hands. While trying on rings is an excellent way to determine which ring suits, here are some general guidelines to help you choose the handmade silver ring that will most flatter tour hands.

Long fingers: A handmade silver ring with a round gemstone will flatter longer fingers, whilst a handmade silver ring with a marquise-shaped gemstone – that is, one which is oblong with pointy tips – will make long fingers look even longer. Similarly, a handmade silver ring with a pear-shaped or oval stone may not be flattering to long fingers.

Short fingers:  Conversely, a handmade silver ring with a marquise-shaped gemstone, with its tapered tips, will look smashing when worn on a shorter finger, as it will draw the eye along the length of the finger and give the illusion that the finger is longer than it is.  Handmade silver rings with pear- and teardrop-shaped gemstones may have the same effect. Handmade silver rings with round stones should be avoided, however, as they do not usually flatter short fingers. Chunky, rectangular handmade silver rings are probably least flattering to shorter fingers.

Narrow fingers:  A handmade silver ring with a heart-shaped or round stone will add softness to the narrow finger, and so flatter it. Handmade silver rings with a thick band emphasize the horizontal line of the finger and so make it look wider. A handmade silver ring with a small gemstone will also give the narrow finger the illusion of width.

Wide fingers: Wide fingers look best when adorned by a handmade silver ring festooned with a gemstone that is wider than they are; the less skin showing on either side of the gemstone, the better. Thus, wider marquise-shaped gemstones set in handmade silver rings flatter short, wide fingers, as do round gemstones in large settings. Handmade silver rings with a cluster of gemstones can also be very flattering to wider fingers.

Large hands:  Handmade silver rings with large, and even dominant, chunky gemstones can usually be carried off by the woman with large hands. Conversely, handmade silver rings with a small gemstone may be less flattering.

Small hands: Small hands are flattered by smaller handmade silver rings, with gemstones of almost any shape: heart-shaped, oval, round and square. However,a handmade silver ring with a marquise-shaped gemstone may be less flattering, unless the fingers are long.
